So we were in Michael's the other day and while we were waiting in line we saw these toys in a dollar bin. I'm not exactly sure why but we had this inspiration to paint them and turn them into something quirky yet delightful. Since we are still in the process of converting our living room (to neon-ness) we figured these would need to have some sort of neon on them. This is how they turned out. How fun are these?
Start with whatever toys or figurines you like. We got these for $1 at Michael's (the gnome is from Walmart). The giraffe is already painted silver in this picture because Casey is a little impatient and wanted to see what it was going to look like before we had time to do the whole tutorial.
We wanted to keep some of the gnome's original color so we taped off his hat before we spray painted him.
Then we used a silver spray paint to cover the toys.
Here's the gnome with the taped removed. He's so cute.
Next we used white acrylic paint to cover the legs of the toys.
Then we used neon acrylic paint in pink and yellow to paint over the white. We also used orange neon nail polish (from American Apparel).
Tada. That's one sexy cow.
Rawr.
This is probably my favorite one. I have a thing for giraffes.
The gnome is so cute!
ReplyDeleteHe has a girlfrined, Trudy the troll doll, but we didn't spray paint her. So, she's not pictured here. I felt she needed to stay in her orignal form :) Yeah, we're a little weird.
Deletelove the lime against the silver...pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks. We love the combo too.
DeleteHa! This is really cute, and I have to admit the giraffe is also my favorite, it looks like it's wearing go-go boots!
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh :) I giraffe with go-go boots is hilarious.
