This might be the easiest nail design ever. Well, the easiest design that you do by hand. It's fun and bright and doesn't take too much time. Obviously you can use whatever colors you want but these steps will explain exactly how I created these Neon Striped Nails. Here is what you do....
Gather the colors you want your stripes to be. I used American Apparel's Neon Yellow, Neon Orange, Neon Red, Essie's Turquoise and Caicos and Art Deco in Turquoise.
Paint your base coat color. (Turquoise and Caicos)
Add one stripe on the left side of each nail with Neon Red.
Add another stripe on the right side of each nail with Neon Orange.
In the middle of your nail, add a Neon Yellow stripe.
Add a smaller turquoise stripe between the Neon Yellow and Neon Orange stripes. Clean up the mess around your nails with a q-tip or old makeup brush and some nail polish remover.
Add a shiny top coat. I used Essie's No Chips Ahead.
These nails were actually brighter in real life if you can believe it. Yay neon!
!!! love this tutorial! need to go get those colors, I'm so obsessed with neon. thanks!

We are insanely obsessed with neon. It may be a problem :) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI love your nail design posts. I'm such a nude and grey (soild) girl, it's hard to break free from that. That being said I'm also a perfectionist. If you take a toothpick and wrap a tiny bit of old (you know from those partially used cotton balls that you took off the chipped paint with?) cotton and dip it in NPR, you can clean the edges and cuticles like magic. It seriously makes the job look professional. Then continue with the clear top coat and your nails will look like a million bucks for an extra minute of time. Holla!!!
ReplyDeleteHope this was helpful and not too nagg-y.
i love your blog and all the fun ideas and tutorials :)
